A blast from the past

Well, I wasn't able to upload some of my scans of old roller rink stickers, but here's a shot of our very first Houston Roller Derby exhibition bout back in October of 2005. The venue was Pasadena Convention Center. The floor was slick black and gray terrazo (this is before HRD bought their sport court). The announcers were me, Chip Queso (txrg-Austin), J.D. (pictured) and Jenny (pictured). J.D. and Jenny both left HRD- J.D. before the start of the 2006 season and Jenny shortly into the 2006 season- but we had a good time. Here's a pic of Tawdry Hepburn with J.D. ad Jenny trying to get things ironed out before doors opened. Despite going head to head with an Astros World Series game IN TOWN, we drew 800 people to the PCC.
Besides the floor (which is a moot point now that HRD brings in their own floor) I thought PCC was an excellent venue. Oh yeah, the snack bar didn't have it together at all either- ran out of beer in the first 5 minutes (no joke!). What great memories- Colonel
